General description and construction.

The hull is built using the hand lay up method. The laminated construction consists of hydrolysis proof polyester resin, glass silk mats, roving fabrics, balsa wood core and multidirectional fabrics. The floor beams, laminated into the hull, distribute the keel and rig forces evenly along the laminate construction. Internally the laminate is sealed using topcoat. Externally the hull is protected by an aluminium/rubber guard-rail. The deck and cabin are constructed utilising end grain balsa core to provide strength and insulation. Aluminium re-inforcements laminated in for all fittings. The hull and deck are laminated and bonded together while still in the mould to create an integrated structure. The ample anchor locker is self-draining, and there is a purpose-built compartment for a life raft under the helmsmans seat. White Hull, Blue waterline striping, grey TBS non-slip deck, white coachroof with blue stripes. The keel is a combination of cast-iron and lead profile with extremely low centre of gravity, fastened to the hull by stainless steel bolts into the laminated-in steel floor beams. The balanced rudder has a shaft of solid seawater-resistant aluminium with stabilising framework welded on. Self-aligning JP3 rudder bearings.
